Do
I need a doctor’s referral or prescription for physical
therapy?
Yes and no. Alaska is a direct access state for physical therapy
which means that by law you are allowed to see a physical therapist
without a physician's referral.
Will my insurance be billed?
Yes, our experienced billing staff will bill insurance as
a courtesy. We bill all commercial and government carriers,
including Tricare.
Will my insurance pay for physical therapy?
It is your responsibility to know how your specific insurance
plan will cover physical therapy. We can help and have a pre-certification
department that will call your insurance to get basic coverage
and benefit information. However, it is important to remember
that a quote of benefits or coverage is not a guarantee of payment.
What insurances are Advanced Physical Therapy preferred provider’s for?
We are a preferred provider for many carriers. Some of the most
common include:
- Blue Cross/Blue Shield
- Aetna
- Cigna
- First Choice Health Network
- EBMS
- Beech Street Corp.
- Medicare
- Medicaid
- Tricare
- Three Rivers Network Provider
Because some insurance companies require a prescription from the physician, we strongly suggest that you contact your insurance carrier to determine their physical therapy coverage requirements.
The Beech Street Corporation is a national PPO
network that accesses First Choice Health Network and there are
hundreds of companies that fall within this group. Please refer
to the back of your insurance card for more information on preferred
networks. Please feel free to give our billing
department a call if you have questions. We look forward to helping you.
Can I set up payment arrangements?
We understand the rising costs of healthcare and are prepared
to do everything we can to assist you with them. Our billing
department can work with you to set up an affordable payment
option.
What is our relationship with the Advance Medical Centers of
Alaska (AMCA)?
Advanced Physical Therapy is a completely separate health care practice, and is physical therapist owned. The physicians and nurse practitioners at Advanced Medical Centers of Alaska often refer their patients to us due to our proximity and our commitment to inter-professional communication.
When starting their respective practices, Dr.'s Stinson and Roderer of AMCA, and Valerie Phelps of Advanced Physical Therapy, chose to use the word "Advanced" in the titles of their clinics to demonstrate the commitment to offering advanced care to the people of Alaska.
