When
a person is injured, there can be an interruption of normal
blood circulation and lymphatic flow. This can cause a build-up
of fluid toxins, which affects the immune system’s ability to
fight off disease. To encourage healing, and resolution of swelling, sometimes the lymph
system needs assistance to properly drain. This involves the
gentle, rhythmic, pumping movements of the soft tissue in the
direction of the lymph flow
Our lymphatic drainage program can benefit patients with the
following conditions:
- Primary and secondary lymphedema
- Venous insufficiency
- Non-infected inflammatory conditions
- After orthopedic surgery
- Circulatory disturbances
- Sports injuries
- Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
- Before and after plastic surgery
Currently, our staff includes Alaska’s only manual lymphatic
drainage therapist certified by the highly respected Dr.
Vodder School.
